Types of Boats and Vessels

Recreational boats or vessels are divided into two main categories: sailboats and motor boats or yachts, although electric and hybrid motors are increasingly present in the market.

Types of Sailboats

Racing Sailboats:

Racing sailboats are built and designed for competition. These boats can range from small to large lengths, such as the Imoca 60, used for ocean races like the Volvo Ocean Race. Racing sailboats are lighter and achieve higher speeds than any conventional sailboat. They are mostly constructed of carbon fiber and fiberglass.

Light Sailboats:

Light sailboats, as the name suggests, are very light sailboats that generally do not exceed 7 meters in length, and can be easily transported even by hand. They are small and can be transported easily. They are widely used by sailing schools for students who want to take their first steps in sailing.

Classic Sailboats:

Classic sailboats are commonly referred to as those built before the 1980s. Hulls can be made of fiberglass, metal, and wood, with the latter being more admired by sailing enthusiasts for their elegance and beauty. Classic sailboats range from small lengths to large sailing yachts that can be over a century old.

At Boatsall, you can find a wide variety of used sailboats from older to more recent models.

Cruising Sailboats:

Recreational sailboats are the most common sailboats seen in marinas, usually ranging from 8 meters to 20 meters in length. They have a lot of interior habitability, with all the amenities for trips that can last from a day to several weeks or months. Additionally, they have a large storage capacity for provisions.

Motorsailers:

The motorsailer is a motorboat that also has the energy contribution of a sail. Although there are motorsailers that can sail solely by sail, most commonly the sails are combined with the thrust of the motor. These vessels usually have a minimum length of 12 meters and can be of considerable length.

At Boatsall, there is a wide section of used motorsailers.

Sailing Yachts:

The sailing yacht is the most luxurious and longest category of sailboats. They are equipped with all kinds of amenities and luxuries, many come equipped with cutting-edge technology and home automation. In more classic boats, sail handling remains manual, assisted with electric winches in some cases, and in more modern yachts, sail adjustment is done with electric systems and computers that calculate the parameters to follow. Sailing yachts have exclusive interiors, with large cabins, spacious common areas, air conditioning, and all kinds of luxuries that can include grand pianos and marble bathrooms.

Multihull Sailboats:

Multihull sailboats have been on the rise for the past decade due to their great spaciousness and minimal heeling when sailing with wind, making it more pleasant, among other attributes. The most common example is catamarans, with two hulls joined by a central part that usually serves as the common area, lounge, and kitchen. Trimarans have three hulls, are less common, and tend to be faster.

Boatsall has a section of catamarans, where you can find new catamarans and used catamarans.

Types of Motorboats

Tenders:

Tenders, usually inflatable boats with low-power outboard motors, are used to transport people and equipment between the shore and the main vessel. Many are made of PVC or Hypalon and have inflatable or rigid floors. There are also sophisticated tenders of greater length.

Bowriders:

Bowriders are a very popular type of day cruiser with an open bow, providing more seating space. It's a unique boating experience where the skipper and passengers enjoy a joint and outdoor journey. They are powerful boats perfect for cruising and water sports.

Cuddy Cabins:

Cuddy cabin boats or cruisers have a cabin that usually consists of a bathroom and lounge, sometimes with a full kitchen and additional double bed. It's like a bowrider but with a cabin for overnight stays. There are many brands, with the most well-known being Monterey, Sea Ray, Regal, etc.

Sportfishing Boats:

Sportfishing boats or walkaround boats are vessels that can be used for both leisure cruising and fishing. They have a wider beam to provide more space for fishing and hulls with a more pronounced V-shape for greater comfort in rougher seas. The interior is usually similar to cruising boats, but generally less luxurious overall.

At Boatsall, we have a range of sportfishing boats for sale featuring most of the market's top brands.
