Founded in 1966, the Aresa Shipyard (S.A. Shipyards) was born from the union of Gallart Shipyards and Shipyards Ibiza and had its initial headquarters in Mataró, and then moved to Arenys de Mar, in Barcelona, where it is still active. Its production has always been characterized by different construction lines: from the Customs patrols, to fishing boats and a line of motor yachts that benefits from the experience of professional helmets. During a short period of time, between 1968 and 1972, Aresa collaborated with the Italian Shipyard Baglietto, which marked the style of its recreational boats. During that period, the subsidiary Tecnaresa was created, which would deal precisely with the design and development of the new models. The Aresa 16 was born precisely in that Italian style, very typical of the Seventy Years and was a great sales success, following in production for a long space of time. A boat from this model became famous in full Transition, when the then President of the Government Adolfo Suárez photographed on board the “Miss Aresa” during a vacation period in 1977, just after the first democratic elections.
