A beautiful classic yawl, very fast. In a very advanced restoration phase.

At the end of the 2nd World War, reconstruction in Norway quickly began with the construction of new warships for the national fleet. Jan Herman Linge, who was Chief Architect of the Norwegian shipyard Westermoens Batbyggeri was in charge of the design of a new series of fast torpedoes for the Navy and acquired therefore great experience in laminated wood with which you can join and mould sheets of different wood essences, to obtain a much more resistant and lighter element than the equivalent of solid wood. When in 1948, the Norwegian velist O. Bergesen asked for a new fast cruise ship alreadywl, the Shipyard entrusted the design to Jan Herman Linge who created a fine and very elegant ship of avant-garde construction for the time, using precisely molded and solid woods. The wagon helmet, lightweight and resistant, limited displacement, contributing to very good performance. With the Peer Gynt, Bergesen sailed for more than twenty years by the Scandinavian fjords, alternating cruises and long walks with skis that he was always on board. They tell that Bergesen died aboard his boat, precisely after a happy ski tour. His widow married years later with the Norwegian Consul in France and both took the boat to the Mediterranean, based in the Old Port of Marseille, where the Peer Gynt reheated for another 15 years. A new French owner, a doctor, took care of him for seven of those years and that was found by his current owner in 1984 and since 1986 his base has been centered on the island of Mallorca. Linge, the designer, became famous for two Olympic series he designed: the Soling and the Yngling. The current owner is a renowned professional expert of classic ships. Your profession doesn't leave you long enough to take care of your boat. For a few years now, he had undertaken a deep restoration work of the Peer Gynt that will have to be completed by the new owner. Many are the jobs already completed and a few more to finish. The candles, although with years, have served only a few times.
