The Halberdier 36 was designed for Moody's by Alan Hill and was the first yacht made entirely of PRFV in the shipyard. A total of 29 were moulded by Marcon (Marine Construction Ltd., Plymouth) and finished by Moody's between 1967 and 1973. At that time, Moody's stopped building this class, but the molds were still available and an unknown number of more ships were built, finished by other builders, for the next ten or fifteen years.
Most of the Halberdiers originally had 35 hp Perkins engines, but some have already been replaced by a variety of alternatives. Most of the Halberdiers were queches, with the vélic plane as shown in the drawing on the left.
Despite the helm and the label of "speed motor", the Halberdier is an authentic sailing yacht, with a classic form of long quilla helmet and a powerful matching.
