A legend cutter: his victories in the races before World War II gave fame to his young designer. Robert Clark had designed only his second boat!

The Ortac is a boat of great historical importance. It was the second design of the famous Robert Clark (the first, the Mystery, only 26 feet in floating) and, in addition, it won its first race, run without any preparation, against the cream of the ocean fleet of regatta of the moment. He threw his then young designer at the olympus of fame, along with the very Olin Stephens, little older than him. His mat, with a very centered stick and sail divided almost half between greater and Genoa, caused sensation. The Ortac was a victorious ship for decades and today continues to navigate almost entirely original.
