A magnificently built and finished high-rise cruise. Comfortable to drive, good sailboat. It has a retractable orce. Very well equipped, with recent accessories. It is in excellent condition and ready to sail.
The shipyard that Claude Whisstock founded in 1926 on the banks of the river Must, in the city of Woodbridge, soon became famous for the quality of his ships and followed in activity until the early 1990s. Whisstock built numerous cruise ships, famous series such as the Must of 4 tonnes or unique specimens such as the Gypsy Moth I of Francis Chichester left the Claude Shipyard and his son George. At the end of the Setenta the construction of wood, even moulded with epoxy was languishing and Whisstock began to build aluminum ships, with a technique and precision that would soon give it an important international success. The Selestra series, based on models of different lengths, was mainly dedicated to high cruises between 38 and 72 feet. From Selestra 48 only three specimens were built and it is a shame, because it is a very robust, elegant and good performance cruise. Designed by Stephen Dalzell, then a young designer, today specializing in mega yachts, the Selestra 48 has fine and asymmetric lines, with a fairly rounded side profile and reduced broth. A small retractable keel improves the performance of girded, also favored by the shapes of the hull. Born in origin as a cuter, the Selestra 48 had a ketch mat, more suited to the trot world program than the shipyard proposed. Major and mesane have a remarkable lengthening to give agility and dynamism in all conditions and the owner of the Hio, as the model is called on offer, confirms it with the little use of the engine that has been carrying since it was mounted new. Its water and gasoil capabilities, the presence of a robust and reliable gasoil generator, one wind, a reliable water stabilizer and two side solar plates are a very self-sustainment. The Hio was subjected by its current owner, carpenter of ribs of profession, to a conscientious complete review, from quilla to perilla, changing the unusable, reviewing what could be used and healing any imperfection. The result is evident and also confirms the care that the ship has been treated from the first moment. The clear deck, with a high-quality manoeuvre mat has a very protected bathtub and allows to socialize outdoors, protected by an awning. The interior, of a high level of finishes, offers a pleasant succession of clearscuros between the different essences that have been used for mamparos and moulds. The excellent kitchen allows to work with any decoration, the living room is well delimited and throughout the boat there are grippers and tips to walk in all conditions. The recent and few hours of use, modern and functional equipment and a replacement and utilisation panoply make the Hio a highly recommended boat for long stays on board and for any navigation program that the next shipper proposes.
